The Car Wash that Beat all Car Washes

Today’s car wash was the best ever!
We BEAT our goal and raised $2,000 today. $1,400 of that came from the generous drivers who stopped at our car wash.  And a big thanks goes to Mark Smith who not only let us use his Midas parking lot – he also added his own gift.  He’d pledged that if we were able to raise the equivalent of two scholarships, he would contribute a third scholarship!

He may look small, but he sure can clean wheels.

Thanks so much to everyone who came by the car wash and helped spread the word. You did a terrific job, and we thank God for you.

And a big round of applause for the Goochland YL kids and volunteer leaders who worked hard for five hours making those cars shine!

Some Nights, Only a Chicken Sandwich Will Do. Like Wednesday June 19

Wednesday June 19 is Goochland Young Life’s Spirit Night at Short Pump Chick-fil-A on Pump Road. From 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., a percentage of sales from dinner will help Goochland High School students who want to go to Young Life’sWindy Gap Camp in July.  And who wouldn’t want to go? It’s the best week of your life!

We’ve got a bus that could fit nearly 50 kids. But some of them need help to cover the cost of camp.

Be sure you tell them you’re there for Goochland Young Life so that they’ll know to donate a percentage of that sale to GYL.

And be sure to tell your friends to go by Chick-fil-A, 3380 Pump Road, on June 19!

Help Kids go to Camp at the June 15 Car Wash

Get your car washed on Saturday June 15 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Midas in Short Pump, at the corner of Pump Rd. and Broad St., 11463 W Broad St.

It’s a Car Wash like no other – it’s an amazing opportunity to help Goochland High School students raise money for camp.

If the kids raise $1,200 (that’s the equivalent of two camp scholarships), Midas owner Mark Smith will donate a third camp scholarship!

The money raised will help Goochland High School students who want to go to Young Life’s Windy Gap Camp in July.  And who wouldn’t want to go? It’s the best week of your life!

We’ve got a bus that could fit nearly 50 kids. But some of them need help to cover the cost of camp. YOU and your dirty car can help.

Be sure to tell all your friends to bring their dirty cars, too!

We’ve got a bus that could fit nearly 50 kids. But some of them need help to cover the cost of camp. YOU and your dirty car can help.

2013 Dodge Ball Tourney!

There’s just nothing like the sting of a rubber ball thrown with just the right backspin.

Yes – you guessed right! Goochland Young Life hosted its 2013 Dodge Ball Tournament on May 11.

We’re happy to report that $500 was raised. That money will help Goochland High School students who want to go to Young Life’s Windy Gap Camp this summer.  And who wouldn’t want to go? It’s the best week of your life!

The tourney promised the winning team a scholarship worth HALF the price of camp. Turns out, the winning team knew how great a week at camp is because they’d been there before.  They really wanted a friend of theirs to experience camp, too, and so they decided to GIVE AWAY their winnings – they asked for the half-scholarship to go toward their friend’s camp costs! What a great example of kids loving their friends in a life-changing way!

If you get a chance, help us thank GHS Athletic Director Bryan Gordon for letting us have the tourney in the gym!

Fore!

Calling all golfers! Here’s your chance to break out your clubs for a good cause.

The annual Young Life golf tournament is a tradition in the Richmond region. West End Young Life hosts the tournament and, for several years, has invited Goochland Young Life to participate by sending golfers.

This year, Goochland Young Life hopes to assemble as many as three foursomes. With each golfer aiming to raise $1,000 in support of Young Life, the event has the potential to raise a significant portion of our yearly budget!

The 2013 tournament is on Monday May 20. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m. and the format is 2 man captain’s choice. It’s a new course this year: 18 holes at Hunting Hawk Golf Club, with a BBQ dinner and an awards program afterwards, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Let us know if you can join us!

Mackenzie, a GYL Campaigner and a GHS student, stepped up to the plate in front of hundreds of players, coaches and fans. She thanked God for creating the beautiful day and asked Him to keep the players safe as they did their best.

She also met Nutzy!
